Grilled Cheese Toastie
“Protein” cheese has been the next instalment of protein based products. Honestly it’s basically edam cheese but slightly less fat.
It tastes exactly like normal cheese. But if you are watching your calories, it’s a great alternative option.
I’ve combine it with cottage cheese to make a super tasty grilled cheese toastie with chilli oil, honey, and spring onions.
Whether it’s for a quick breakfast or weekend lunch, definitely give this one a try!
INGREDIENTS:
100g sourdough (2 slices)
100g lite cottage cheese
50g Dairy Works protein grated cheese
1 spring onion, sliced
10g honey
3g chilli crisp
5mls olive oil
METHOD
Place a pan over medium-low heat.
While the pan is heating, in a small bowl, combine the cottage cheese, spring onion, chilli crisp and half of the grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper and mix well.
Add the cheese mixture to one slice of sourdough then drizzle over the honey and top with the remaining grated cheese.
Place the other slice of bread on top and press together.
Add the olive oil to the pan add the sandwich. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side before flipping. Flip, and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side. Flip back and forth to ensure the bread doesn’t burn until the cheese on the inside has melted.
Remove from the pan, slice, and enjoy!
