Exercise: Eating the Apple
Pick up the apple. Hold it in your hand and feel its weight. Notice its texture and temperature.
Examine the apple. Take notice of its colour and shape. Look at the way the light reflects off the skin and any details like the spot where the stem was attached.
Smell the apple. Bring it to your nose and take a deep breath and notice its aroma. Is it sweet, fresh, or tangy?
Bite the apple slowly. Notice the texture as your teeth break through the skin. Pay attention to the sound and the sensation on your tongue.
Chew mindfully. As you chew, focus on the taste and texture. Notice how the apple feels in your mouth and how your body responds to the flavour.
Swallow and reflect. After swallowing, pause and notice how your body feels. Does the taste linger? How satisfied do you feel?
